Finding Creativity
Ever find yourself in a lull, anxious, or needing to get out and do something different? Read on for ways to get creative!
For me, finding different modes of creativity are what pulls me out and makes me find some grounding. Everyone has their different go-to’s when it comes to this but I really find any art to be where I can take a breath, create and find some peace throughout the busyness of life.
Now, I’ve always been someone who has been super creative and has dove deep into multiple art forms so I have invested quite a bit in to supplies for so many different art forms but here are a few that you don’t have to break the bank or add another closet of materials to try out:
Knitting
Head on over to Michaels or Joanns to stock up on a ball of yarn and knitting needles and try your hand at this! I found my easy knitting project I love to do it hats. I love to do this while I’m watching my favorite movie or binge show on Netflix. Multitasking in that way is easy with knitting so you can be creative while relaxing. You can get knitting needles that “knit in the round” (in a circular motion) and the patterns are very simple that anyone can do it! Play music
Music is my biggest passion so I find myself fleeing to my piano or guitar to get away from all the stress I go through everyday. If you don’t have an instrument/don’t play, you can also just play music on Spotify or whatever music source you use. If you play or are trying to learn, take yourself away into a space that lets you just focus on learning the music and diving into it. If you are listening to music, find yourself in a comfy and cozy place where you can really just melt into the sounds. I love to put my headphones on and drift away into the music. I love finding super dramatic or moody music to let myself really disconnect and take a breath.
ProCreate on Ipad
If you were one of those people who bought an iPad with an Apple Pencil for taking notes and all the practical uses it has but would love to be more creative with it, download ProCreate onto your iPad and experience all the different tools this app has to create and draw. I love to click through all the different pencils you can use and I personally got into learning calligraphy! (I’m not very good at it but who cares!)
Redesign your space
This might be one of my favorite was to create. I love stepping into my space and getting new ideas about how I can use what I have to completely redo a room and make it look different! Now if you want to spend some money, maybe go buy a statement piece or lamp that will really make your space shine and use Pinterest to your benefit (or maybe it’s a curse because you want everything on Pinterest! ha!) One of the easiest ways to change your space up is just flip flopping your room around so you have a different perspective. I just flipped my bedroom around and it has made me feel more creative to exist in that space!
Take a photo walk
Get in the car and take a scenic trip, walk around downtown or in your neighborhood and look at the environment around you and how creative it can be! Take your iPhone and find ways to be creative in your picture-taking skills using the black and white setting or studio setting to get a more focused shot! Here is a great article to tell you how to get the best iPhone photos and videos! (My favorite thing to do when it comes to photo walks is to take a stroll downtown & hang out between the buildings, finding different angles and views to take photos of the incredible architecture Phoenix has to offer).
